Hawaiian-Inspired BBQ Spice Blend ~ Delicious spice blend that can be used as a dry rub for meat and veggies or as mix-in to countless side dishes.Playing in my spice cabinet might just be my newest favorite hobby.
Creating the Spice Rack series (and newest article is about coriander) has really motivated me to delve into my own spice rack and see what concoctions I can come up with.
I was chatting with my friend Barb about a recipe I wanted to make, roasted chickpeas, and she told me about some she ate in Hawaii. She and her hubby apparently had these awesome crunchy ones there and she wanted to recreate that. (look for that recipe tomorrow).I love when people want a specific recipe, that’s one less thing for me to think about or consult my never ending ‘to-make’ list about. So, it got me thinking which led me to pulling out a whole bunch of jars and measuring spoons to make a Hawaiian-Inspired BBQ Spice Blend.
Once the spice blend was made and used on the chickpeas, I couldn’t stop, I kept coming up with ways to add it to various recipes. Then this got me thinking of so many other blends I could make and how to use them.
Spices are so awesome, it’s no wonder they have been prized, created wars, and led to discoveries of new lands.
