Blue Cheese Dressing ~ Creamy, tangy, and chunky, everything you want in your homemade blue cheese dressing, great as a dip or on top of your favorite salad ~ The Complete Savorist My daughter loves blue cheese dressing.  I give this child kudos.  She has a fantastic palate–even with her love of Spaghetti-O’s.  At her age, I was all about the thousand island or French, any of the more sweeter dressings.  I can’t get her to eat mashed potatoes, but she will devour Indian food.  It makes this momma happy.

My menu for the week includes a chopped kale salad.  When I was thinking about the best brand of blue cheese dressing to buy at the store, I really couldn’t come up with one I really liked well enough that I wanted to use it in my salad.  Then I realized my own thought process and felt like an idiot.  I’m a food blogger, a recipe developer, AND I’ve even made my own dressing before. This was a lesson in not writing menus at 1 am!I had to go through an old hard drive and a few notebooks before I found my blue cheese dressing.  I might have mentioned I struggle following recipes, that I like to get creative.  It turns out that is true for even my own recipes.  I decided to omit the milk of my original recipe in favor of buttermilk for a bit extra zip and tang.  I also increased the amount of blue cheese to almost 3/4 of a cup.  I just couldn’t help myself.

I love blue cheese and the idea of adding Worcestshire sauce is new to me. Will have to try this version.

The Worcestershire gives it just a level of depth that balances all that dairy (fat) out. It is not overwhelming, very subtle, but quite delicious.
