Watermelon Kissed Lemonade Martinis ~ Mint and watermelon muddled together then shaken with lemonade and vodka creating the perfect cocktail.Last weekend I was out at my friend Darla’s house for dinner. It was just a low-key affair and utterly fabulous. I love cooking. I love eating out, but occasionally I truly enjoy a home cooked meal by another and Darla is a fantastic cook, one of the best.
ForĀ a pre-dinner cocktail, she handed me this pretty pink thing in a martini glass. I knew the basic flavor profile of lemonade, watermelon, and mint, but hadn’t quite envisioned how it would all taste.
Nothing I could have imaged tasted quite as delicious as this drink is. Fruity, refreshing, not overly sweet, but not overly sour either. I gulped mine down, not bothering to sip the drink, which is how one in refined company drinks a martini.
I love the drink so much, I begged for the recipe so I could share it with you all. She was happy to oblige. And a bonus, this watermelon was freshly garden picked….it doesn’t get much better than that.
Ingredients
- 3 oz vodka
- 8 oz prepared lemonade
- 6 mint leaves; divided
- 5 tbsp watermelon plus more for garnish
- Sugar (for riming the glasses) OPTIONAL
- Ice
Instructions
-
In a shaker, add 5 mint leaves and the watermelon; Muddle together.
-
Add the vodka and the prepared lemonade, along with some ice.
-
Cover and' shake, shake, shake your body'.
-
Using a cocktail strainer, pour the drink into 2 prepared martini glasses (rimmed with sugar is optional) and discard the muddled ingredients.
-
Sip and enjoy responsibly.
-
NOTE: Simply omit the vodka for a mocktail.
