Raspberry Arnold Palmer

Raspberry Arnold Palmer ~ The classic lemonade and iced tea combo becomes a delightful trio when infused with fresh raspberries.Raspberry Arnold Palmer ~ The classic lemonade and iced tea combo becomes a delightful trio when infused with fresh raspberries ~ The Complete Savorist by Michelle De La CerdaFor the longest time, Arnold Palmer was just a golfer in my world, not that I follow golf all that much, or at all.

Back when I was working at the now defunct Borders Books and Cafe, a co-worker ordered an Arnold Palmer in our cafe. I had no idea what she was talking about. She then educated me and I’ve been a fan ever since.

For those who are in the dark like I was, an Arnold Palmer is a mixture of iced tea and lemonade. Therefore, a Raspberry Arnold Palmer is the mixture of iced tea and lemonade, and then is infused with fresh raspberries. Raspberry Arnold Palmer ~ The classic lemonade and iced tea combo becomes a delightful trio when infused with fresh raspberries ~ The Complete Savorist by Michelle De La CerdaYep, it’s that simple. The key is to make it several hours before you want to serve and add the fresh berries. Allowing the berries to just “sit” in the drink for a while will allow them to slowly give their essence to this refreshing beverage.

I wanted a drink that I could serve to both the under and over 21 group. For the over 21 crowd, I added some vodka. One shot per individual glass or if I was to make the full recipe below, I’d add 1 cup of vodka.  However, once you add the vodka, the drink undergoes a name change and become a John Daly.

By either name, this drink is delicious.

Instructions

  1. In a 2 quart pitcher, add the iced tea and lemonade, stir.

  2. Add 4 ounces of the fresh raspberries.

  3. Chill for at least 2 hours before serving; longer if possible, allowing the raspberries to infuse.
