Strawberry Banana Yogurt Smoothie is simple and delicious. The Greek yogurt makes it perfect for breakfast, the sweet fruit make it a wonderful dessert, or a refreshing mid-afternoon snack to take the edge off. So however you choose to enjoy it, you can’t go wrong.
There is a yogurt epidemic in my house. 5 varieties can currently be found in my house. Two traditional brands that you lick the lids when you open them. Then we have the Greek stuff, which I love using more in recipes than straight eating. We’ve got the kind my little one shakes and drinks. I call those shake yogurts. I am sure they have a real name, but I have never bothered to learn it. I am not even sure of the brand name, I just buy it automatically, noticing the packaging or if I am to be perfectly honest, because my daughter picks it up and says “Mom, I need more shake yogurts.” The final type are those long, slender pouches that you can freeze. Those have replaced me buying popsicles so I LOVE those.
I’ve been working on downsizing our yogurt supply, as after a single trip to Sam’s club to restock them can leave the entire bottom shelf of the fridge looking like Yogurt Land. Plus, after buying the kid a Naked strawberry banana drink at nearly $4, I knew there had to be a better way. There is a better way. Buy my own fruit and blend it into some greek yogurt (more protein than plain yogurt) and call it a day.
I told her I was going to make our own shake yogurts and that excited her. So much so, that she helped blend it, set up the photo shoot, and got a mini photography lesson. It was such a fun afternoon. She loved working the blender so much that she joined me in the kitchen again to make the upcoming cauliflower, beer, cheddar soup.
The next two photos were taken before I had fully set up the shot, but she was out with me and we started taking pictures. Yes, I take my photos in my front yard, once the summer comes, I can take them in my backyard, but it’s quite amusing to watch the traffic slow down to see what in the world that woman is doing in her driveway. My daughter helped capture these two shots, so I decided instead of taking the time to blur out my neighborhood or even remove the background, I would just leave them as is. It’s just too bad my lawn hasn’t turned green yet.

March 19, 2015 at 5:22 amI am always amazed at how many people buy premade smoothies from the grocery store or smoothie shop–they just don’t compare to homemade smoothies with fresh fruit! Once you make one at home, you never want to buy another!! And your creation looks amazing–plus full of protein to keep you going!

March 19, 2015 at 9:48 amI’m with you Kristen, making them is easy, and I control what’s in them. My daughter doesn’t know it yet, but she’s going to start getting veggies in her smoothies since she’s acting picky at dinner time. 🙂
