Bourbon Grape Rickey ~ The childhood classic summertime drink of grape juice, lemon-lime soda with a squeeze of fresh lime juice has been given a grown-up make-over by adding bourbon.
Spring is officially here. Summer is on its way. That means the outdoor gatherings and BBQ’s are on coming soon.
While the food served at these events is often the spotlight, sometimes, I like to make a cocktail to real star.
Welch’s Concord Grape juice is always something I have on hand at my house. My daughter enjoys a cup after school; she loves the flavor (and the color). Recently, after handing her a cup, I nicked a quick sip for myself reminding me how much I enjoy that bold concord grape flavor.
Grape Lime Rickey
I love to make recipes that remind us all of when we were young and carefree. That’s when I decided I wanted to take one of my favorite drinks, a grape and lime rickey, but for the over 21 crowd.
Introducing the Bourbon Grape Rickey using Welch’s Concord Grape, with great taste and refreshing goodness.
I purchase my Welch’s at my local Smiths grocery store, (but click here to find it in your area). I also used fresh lime juice, lemon-lime soda, and bourbon for this refreshing cocktail.
Easy Summer Cocktail
Maybe I should refer to this Bourbon Grape Rickey as Bourbon Grape Richard, since it’s all grown up! Simple, easy to find ingredients, make this cocktail version a snap to make.
My friends raved about this cocktail. It pairs well with so many food options as it is not overpowering. It is a great sipping drink as you meander through appetizers of cheese and crackers, or as your main beverage with a meal, like a timeless grilled hamburger.
Make plenty, as it is sure to go fast. The smooth, rich flavors of this beverage are an enhancement to your menu.
The classic flavor of the Welch’s Concord Grape juice shines in this sparkling cocktail, I am especially looking forward to enjoying my Bourbon Grape Rickey on a hot summer day. What’s your favorite way to enjoy Welch’s?
