Grandma’s Green Bean Casserole

 A mouth watering and flavorful classic made with tons of cheese and butter for a decadent addition to a holiday meal.

Ingredients

  • 3-4 cans French style green beans; drained
  • 1 large onion; diced
  • 1 stick butter
  • 2 cans cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 lb cheddar cheese; shredded
  • 1/2 lemon; squeezed for juice
  • 2-6 oz cans French fried onions

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350° F.

  2. Open cans of green beans and drain.  Add to a large bowl.

  3. Sautee onion in butter until translucent; don’t let it brown.
  4. Add onion butter mix to green beans.  Add all the remaining ingredients to the bowl, except 1 can of French fried onions, and mix well.

  5. Pour contents of bowl in to baking dish; cover.

  6. Cook 30-40 at 350° F.

  7. Last few minutes, uncover and add remaining can of French fried onions on top to brown.
