Whether hosting a party or simply trying to creep out your kids, these breaded hot dogs carved to look like fingers will do the trick, especially with ketchup as a bloody special effect.
Pre-heat the oven to 375°F
Using a paring knife, slice a square into the top of each hotdog.
Pull the casing off, exposing the meat. (see notes for using the casings)
Slice notches throughout the hotdog to look like knuckle joints; set aside.
Separate the crescent dough and slice it into thin strips.
Wrap 2-4 strips around each hotdog (the strip lenghts very) to resembly poorly applied bandages.
Repeat this for each hotdog.
Place each “finger” on the sprayed baking tray.
Squirt ketchup in strategic spots along the “bandages” and “finger.”
Bake for 12-14 minutes, or until the dough has turned golden brown.
Add more ketchup to enhance the “still bleeding” look.
Serve, and creepily enjoy.
To look like they're severed, slice off the bottom of the non-nail side of the hot dog.
Slice the cut off casings into strips and use a toothpick to push them into the newly cut bottom of the hot dog to look like flesh, tendons, and such hanging/dangling from the 'finger'
