A Night with Cuisine Unlimited, Katie Chin, and Kathy Griffin

For this reason, I must head south to the big city (insert laughter here for all you really big city folks reading along) and enjoy the sites and sounds of Salt Lake City as often as my schedule will allow. Luckily, I was invited down to attend Cuisine Unlimited‘s first event under their new “Dinner and a Show” platform. While dinner and a show sounds fun all on its own, my excitement was intensified when I learned it was a celebrity chef dinner with Katie Chin and a live comedy show by Kathy Griffin. Talk about a night out!!!

I have seen Chef Chin’s cooking programs on TV with her mom and just love their rapport and style. She was absolutely as genuine as her smile. Her food is delicious and I absolutely loved the few moments I got to chat with her before the whole evening began. A Night with Cuisine Unlimited, Katie Chin, and Kathy Griffin ~ Dinner and a show benefiting charity; a great way to spend a chilly Friday evening in Salt Lake City ~ The Complete Savorist adHaving two tickets on my hands meant I had to find date. I turned to Matthew to be my plus one. He’s attended plenty of events with me over the years and knows how to keep a girls’ nerves at bay, hand her a glass(es) of wine at the appropriate time, help style the food for a picture, and if I’m to be perfectly frank, is arm candy. (Yep, both he and his mom will be reading this too…Hi Matthew and Claudia.) Selfies always come out so grainy, but what can I do?

However, never underestimate the gay men in your life and what they tell you you can pull off. They were right! I wore the dress.A Night with Cuisine Unlimited, Katie Chin, and Kathy Griffin ~ Dinner and a show benefiting charity; a great way to spend a chilly Friday evening in Salt Lake City ~ The Complete Savorist adUpon arriving at the theater, I got to work photographing the environment while Matthew acquired the much needed glass of wine for me. I was in the Black Box where dinner was to be served…not the most photographer friendly environments (hence the above ‘yikes’ face) when appetizers were being served in the receiving room just adjacent. I wandered over to get some shots of the delicious offerings being carried about on simple yet elegant white plates.

I’m grateful the staff was patient with me while I got the photographs I needed. I was working with new equipment for the first time and in the middle of a steep learning curve. Matthew even snapped a picture of me working, which is kind of cool and awkward all at the same time. A Night with Cuisine Unlimited, Katie Chin, and Kathy Griffin ~ Dinner and a show benefiting charity; a great way to spend a chilly Friday evening in Salt Lake City ~ The Complete SavoristNow I wasn’t just given tickets because they had them to spare. In return, I needed to write an article to be posted on their website, something I was more than happy to do.

I’d do a lot more for a kid-free, night out, in the city, wearing grown up clothes, with or without the above mentioned arm candy.

To read a more professional, less rambling account of the night, read my article here on Cuisine Unlimited‘s site. While you’re there, you can poke around and see what fun upcoming events they have going on and pick up some tickets for you and your family/friends.A Night with Cuisine Unlimited, Katie Chin, and Kathy Griffin ~ Dinner and a show benefiting charity; a great way to spend a chilly Friday evening in Salt Lake City ~ The Complete Savorist adAfter dinner was served, we were led out, around, and back into the Eccles main area for the Kathy Griffin show.

She was absolutely hilarious and every bit irreverent as I expected her to be. She said she’s used to having people walk out on her show, but this baffled me. Why would one buy tickets to her show and not know the type of content her show contains? The people sitting next me did walk out and never came back. Their loss.

We opted to stay the night in Salt Lake City, so we headed back to our hotel, I slipped into something a bit more comfy…my flannel pjs (anything to be out of that ‘yes I rocked it but enough is enough’ dress), we enjoyed additional cocktails, conversation, and a lovely city view.A Night with Cuisine Unlimited, Katie Chin, and Kathy Griffin ~ Dinner and a show benefiting charity; a great way to spend a chilly Friday evening in Salt Lake City ~ The Complete Savorist ad

All in all, A Night with Cuisine Unlimited, Katie Chin, and Kathy Griffin is not at all a bad way to spend an evening. If you live in the area or are going to be in the area, I highly recommend checking out the offerings of  Cuisine Unlimited at the Eccles Center.

Now if you haven’t already done so, head on over and read my other account of the evening.

Ah, thank you Kelly, I love it too, but it took a bit to feel comfy in something like that.
